| Chocolate has been in use for centuries, though not in the modern way in which we eat chocolate or make chocolate drinks or foods. In Central American pottery has been found containing a chemical compound that could only have come from the cacao plant. Chocolate is, of course, made from cacao. The pottery is dated to some 3,100 years ago. It is believed that the pottery was used for holding cacao drinks, used on important ceremonial occasions. The drinks were made by the native mesoamericans from the fermented pulp of the cacao plant. | ||
